Poem: Into the Storm of Life | Finding Strength in Adversity

Into the Storm of Life

To know who we are,
is to conquer the mystic mountain of secrets.
The life that we live,
is full of mysteries and hidden meanings
that we need to decode all by ourselves,
things that seem one way
might not seem the same when seen another way another day,
in the midst of all the whirling storm
your boat stays consistent in the sea,
broken, fighting and only thing it might be
in the sea with you,
the only thing you could call your own,
only thing that you could hold on to,
only thing that gives you a reason to fight back
and sustain and live and stay above the water,
so you keep the thrill alive in your life,
keep taking the risk that might let you live to see another rising
sun,
when the hope is gone,
and you’ve accepted your defeat,
there’s very little that the writer of your story can do,
call out, scream and throw your hands in the air,
get the attention of that writer,
ask him to spare a few merciful words for you
from his big word factory.
Life is cheap and dreams are a dozen a dime,
you’re standing in the middle of the recession,
begging for a fortune,
you’re poor because nobody taught you
the tricks of the trade,
stop singing the same old unfortunate song
and ask for a dime only from people
who can afford to give one away,
because begging to another beggar might give you platitudes
but never the resources to repair your boat
if you want to sail away through the storm,
remember not to fade away in your own home.

“Into the Storm of Life” is a poem I wrote to explore the journey of self-discovery and resilience in the face of adversity. Through this poem, I wanted to highlight the importance of understanding ourselves and the strength it takes to navigate life’s challenges.

In this poem, I reflect on the process of uncovering our true selves. Life is full of mysteries and hidden meanings, and it’s up to each of us to decode them. This journey of self-discovery is essential for personal growth, and it requires us to look at things from different perspectives and adapt to changing circumstances.

A key idea in the poem is the notion of resilience. Life often feels like a storm, with challenges that test our endurance. Despite these difficulties, it’s crucial to hold onto our inner strength and keep fighting. Our “boat” in the storm symbolizes our core self, the part of us that remains consistent and gives us a reason to keep going. This resilience is what helps us stay afloat and continue striving for our goals.

Another important theme in the poem is the value of seeking help when we need it. When hope seems lost, reaching out for support can make a significant difference. It’s about finding the right sources of help and not wasting energy on empty platitudes.

Ultimately, “Into the Storm of Life” is about the relentless pursuit of our dreams and maintaining hope, even in the face of adversity. It serves as a reminder that while the journey may be challenging, our inner strength and the right support can help us sail through the toughest times.
